How to become an Instructor of Record (IoR) for Biological Sciences

People with the following designations are eligible to apply to become an instructor of record for Biological Sciences Department graduate courses, advanced research and thesis/dissertation research credits: 

  • FAU Faculty Members (must be listed as Graduate Faculty with the FAU Graduate College) 
  • FAU Affiliate Faculty with the Biological Sciences Department and one of the following memberships with the FAU Graduate College: 
    • Graduate Faculty
    • Associate Graduate Faculty
    • Graduate Lecturer
    • Graduate Faculty Emeriti

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Course Syllabus 
  • Offer Letter

Please send official transcripts from institutions inside the United States directly to FAU:

Please send official transcripts from institutions outside the United States directly to an agency certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) to establish equivalency to American degrees (click here for a list). Documentation in a foreign language must be translated by an appropriate external agency. Please request all original documents (transcripts, translation, and evaluation report) be sent directly to FAU from the evaluating agency:

Type of evaluation required:

  • Course-by-Course Evaluation
    • M.S. in Biology/Biological Sciences or in disciplines relevant to the course being taught
  • Document-by-Document Evaluation 
    • Ph.D. in Biology/Biological Sciences/Integrative Biology or in disciplines relevant to the course being taught
    • D.V.M.
    • M.D.

Uncommon Situations

If the institution does not have official transcripts, then the following documentation is required:

  • Original Diploma
  • Dissertation Abstract

It is highly recommended that return of original documents is done by secure means (via certified mail or by courier) and sent directly to FAU from the evaluating agency:

After the original diploma and evaluation report is received by FAU, a certified copy will be kept on file and the original diploma can be picked up with proper identification.
