Genevieve Sylvester

Genevieve is a student at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at FAU’s Jupiter Campus working towards a degree in Marine Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies. Before joining the Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Marine SEA Scholar program, Genevieve participated in sea turtle husbandry in the FAU Marine Lab as a Directed Independent Research (DIR) student. Genevieve wears multiple hats in the Lab as she is also interning with Principal Investigator Dr. Stephen Kajiura’s Elasmobranch Lab and is completing an honor’s thesis under the tutelage of Dr. Jeanette Wyneken. For her honor’s thesis, Genevieve is investigating relationships between physical abnormalities in loggerhead and green sea turtle hatchlings and climate conditions during their incubation. She also is excited to gain more experience with public outreach. When not diving into research, Genevieve likes to relax by snorkeling with sharks, fishing, enjoying the beach, and visiting nature preserves. After graduation Genevieve has plans to attend graduate school.
