Continuing Education Courses in the Department of Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences is offering two continuing education courses that are available to students, members of the community, and out of state enrollees: Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and DNA Forensics. The ART course promotes continuing education for current and future careers in health, reproductive medicine and other life science fields; while the DNA Forensics course facilitates proficiency in biotech applications utilized in forensic laboratories and the criminal justice system.


Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Certificate Course

This 5-week certificate course in Assisted Reproductive Technology is intended for current professionals and non-professional students contemplating a career in human reproductive medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, biomedical science and other allied life science programs.

ART Instructors:

Dr. Michael Matilsky, PhD, HCLD; IVF Laboratory Director (PalmBeach Fertility and FIRST-IVF, Florida, USA)

Dr. Anthony Anderson, DHSc, ELD; CEO – EmbryoDirector, San Antonio, TX; IVF Lab Director – PositIVF Clinic, San Antonio, TX

Lecture Schedule (5 weeks including 6 virtual lab modules):

The course meets in-person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on the FAU Boca Raton campus with simulcasting provisions to the FAU Davie campus and a Remote Learning Option is available for out of state enrollees.

DNA Forensics Certificate Course

This 5-week certificate course in DNA Forensics is intended for current professionals and non-professional students contemplating a career in biotech, forensic science, criminal justice and other allied life science programs. "FAU submitted this Forensics DNA Course for approval and the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) approved this course for recertification points."
