The Department of Biological Sciences offers a number of scholarships for graduate students pursuing Doctoral and Master's Degrees within the department. Students participating in our integrative programs are performing cutting edge research in a variety of life science fields including organismal biology, environmental science, neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology, and marine science.

The Department houses research labs studying a wide spectrum of organisms, from fruit flies and worms to turtles and sharks. Areas of research interest include molecular mechanisms underlying cancer, development, aging and oxidative stress, molecular and cellular neuroscience behind normal development, neurotransmission, behavior and neurological disorders, bioinformatics, biotechnology , plant genomics and physiology, conservation biology, marine biology, animal morphology and physiology, animal behavior, evolution , sensory biology of marine vertebrates and invertebrates, population ecology, predator-prey interactions, ecosystem energetics, food web dynamics, ecological modeling, physical-biological coupling, coastal ecology, nutrient cycling , and aquatic systems such as the Everglades and coral reefs.
