All graduate students who have not previously been employed by Florida Atlantic University must be processed by student employment prior to beginning a teaching or research assistantship within the Biology department.
Please visit the Student Employment section of the Human Resources website. Read "Who is a Student Employee" and click on the appropriate link to watch the "Orientation Video". Then click on "Just Hired" and select either "Hire Process for Non-International Students" or "Hire Process for International Students" as appropriate. You will then be prompted to create an application. Follow the instructions and submit your application. Please notify your respective laboratory coordinator (the staff member who made your teaching assignment) or your graduate supervisor (the faculty member who his paying your research assistantship) as well as your respective budget coordinator via email once you have completed the student employment process.
Included in an assistantship is a stipend and a tuition waiver. The tuition waiver covers tuition but does cover student fees (roughly 80% of the total bill--tuition+fees--is covered by the waiver).
