Nambu REU Scholarships

Nambu Memorial Student Research Assistant Program for Undergraduates Program

 Application Previous Recipients

Program Description

The John Nambu Memorial Student Research Assistant Program offers intensive research opportunities with stipend support for FAU undergraduates sponsored by the Jupiter Life Science Initiative. Established in the memory of the late Dr. John Nambu, Professor in the Biological Sciences Department, the program provides undergraduates an opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in life science labs on the FAU Jupiter campus. These scholarships are exciting and once-in-a-lifetime chances to perform research while expanding scientific expertise through networking with fellow undergrads and faculty mentors, writing and presentations skills. Students conduct experiments through the 10-week program that runs during the summer semester, with the potential for continuing their research into the next academic year for thesis credits.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduates will be nominated by current FAU research faculty and competitively chosen to conduct intensive research in sophisticated life science labs. The successful undergraduates will also spend at least one hour per week with the fellow undergrads in the program and a faculty mentor. Students often complete a thesis through the program, so sophomores and juniors are especially encouraged to talk with their research advisors about this opportunity.
