The National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation has donated money to create new scholarships for undergraduate students studying marine biology and conducting research under the direction of a faculty advisor. The purpose of this support is to encourage outstanding students to broaden their educational experience as a marine biology major at Florida Atlantic University. These scholarships will encourage students to become well-rounded, skilled, and committed individuals who are motivated to engage the public through education, research, and outreach activities in the field of marine biology. These new scholarships will be offered to undergraduate seniors in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science that are engaging in a research project and other outreach activities. These students will serve as ambassadors in the FAU Marine Research Laboratory gallery at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, where they will discuss the goals and significance of the faculty and student research being accomplished to visitors.
