The Lab focuses on questions related to wetland birds and the aquatic ecosystems on which they depend. Research outcomes often bear directly on the management and restoration of wetland ecosystems by state and federal agencies. Although the questions are often driven by management needs in the Everglades, the problems they address are common to wetlands world-wide. The lab maintains a high level of research activity, with over $9 mil in external research funding since 2004. Boca Raton sits between the Everglades and an extensive coral reef tract, two of Florida’s most unique natural features.
