Biological Field Technician 

Two technicians are needed for a seasonal OPS position (approx. January through June) supporting studies of wading bird prey in and around the Florida Everglades. Duties for the position include field sampling of fish and macro-invertebrates, GIS and GPS data collection, and fish and macro-invertebrate identification and processing in the lab. Sampling is conducted by helicopter across the entire Everglades system and by airboat, kayak, or foot in habitat surrounding Lake Okeechobee. Technicians will also participate in other ongoing research projects within the lab such as assisting a graduate student on wading bird work at Lake Okeechobee. Salary is ~$3,200-3,400/month. Technicians must provide own housing and transportation to Florida Atlantic University. Personal transportation related to fieldwork will be reimbursed. Qualifications: Applicants should have a B.S. in biology, wildlife, fisheries, natural resources or related field. Applicants should be highly motivated, well organized, and able to work long hours in subtropical wetland field conditions (heat, insects, alligators, snakes, etc.) while maintaining a positive attitude. Experience that demonstrates accurate data collection and research skills specific to the positions above is desirable. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record is required.
