Alumni
Conall McNicholl is an alumnus of Dr. Koch’s lab. He engaged in research from 2015 to 2019. During Conall’s time in the lab, he studied the effects of climate change and ocean acidification on tropical macroalgae. He used an array of experimental tools, such as microsensors, radioisotopes, and mesocosms, in order to characterize the physiological traits that may promote resistance to environmental change. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, studying and identifying the calcification mechanism in corals in hopes of determining the impact of these changes on the world’s ocean. When Conall is not in the lab, he enjoys experimenting with ways to make the perfect margarita.
