Layne Kennedy is an undergraduate student majoring in Marine Science at FAU’s Wilkes Honors College. She previously worked with Dr. Stephen Kajiura’s Elasmobranch lab helping tag sharks with satellite trackers in the field. Layne started working in the FAU Marine Science Lab during the Fall semester, and there became attracted to the Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Marine SEA Scholars program. She is enthusiastic about informing the community about marine science. One thing she hopes people will learn from visiting the FAU Marine Lab is the importance of climatic shifts and their effects on the entire world. Once she graduates, Layne aspires to continue her education by attending graduate school to obtain a PhD in a marine science-related field. Outside of the Marine Lab, Layne loves going to the beach, riding horses, and has recently picked up the hobby of scuba diving.
