Master’s Student
Lisa Esposito received her bachelor’s in biology with an environmental emphasis at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). She first worked as an undergraduate in Dr. Sarah Milton’s lab doing sea turtle research. She enjoyed doing research so much, she continued for her Masters in Dr. Sarah Milton’s lab. Lisa recently defended her thesis on the impacts of nest relocation on the vulnerability of loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) eggs and nest success. Her results showed that relocation can be a useful tool to preserve nests from flooding and washout as sea levels rise and storms increase. However, as temperatures rise due to climate change, some wash over from high tides can be beneficial and increase hatch success, likely due to the cooling effect of some tidal flooding.
