Lisa Celano is an alumna of the FAU Marine Lab who worked with multiple primary researchers during her time at the lab: Dr. Wyneken, Dr. Salmon, and Dr. Kajiura. For Lisa’s thesis research, she determined the sensitivity of hatchling sea turtles to UV and visible light wavelengths as well as how hatchling loggerheads and green turtles responded behaviorally to these light sources. Lisa also obtained corresponding field measurements (lighting surveys at night) for this project. Additionally, Lisa assisted with surveys of black-tip shark migration patterns using tracking devices and collecting DNA samples. Lisa is currently working as a project biologist for an environmental consulting company in South Florida where her responsibilities include conducting water quality and turbidity monitoring, coral reef monitoring, threatened/endangered species assessments, and permit compliance inspections and reporting. When Lisa is not working, you can find her at the beach or diving at Blue Heron Bridge. “Save the Sea Turtles!”
