Sam is a PhD student in the Integrative Biology Program in Dr. Wyneken’s Lab. Sam previously served in the Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Marine SEA scholars program as an MS student in Dr. Salmon’s lab where she investigated the visual thresholds during sea-finding of hatchling leatherback sea turtles. We are so glad she returned to the Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Marine SEA Scholars program and chose to pursue her PhD! Sam’s dissertation involves investigating the movement and swimming kinematics of neonate (young) sea turtles. As a former science teacher, she enjoys the unique position of the FAU Marine Lab being open to the public, and our ability to engage in public outreach. After graduating, Sam aspires to undertake a career in academia as a college professor so that she can continue to balance teaching andresearch. When Sam is not in the lab, she can be found walking her dog, playing soccer, and grossly overestimating her trivia skills. |
